Scriptwriting with Manship Theatre

In collaboration with the production team at Launch Media and Manship Theatre, I've written several video scripts for the annual fundraising gala at Manship Theatre.

This year, the team at Manship wanted to highlight the theatre's community outreach and educational programs and celebrate its members; while they wanted to acknowledge the pandemic, they did not want the video to overemphasize the "we have overcome" messaging that has become so commonplace amid pandemic return messaging.

What does it mean to be known?

It is a uniquely human desire. To want someone who understands us. To find someone at our side who will remain steadfast with us in suffering and in pain. To find that when we step back into the spotlight, we are not alone. We are part of a community.

Manship has served as a stronghold for our community over the past two years. And, we are not coming back stronger than before. Because we never left.

When other theaters went dark, we continued to engage with our community through virtual camps and school performances.

As traditional programming evolved, your support propelled our community outreach and enabled us to offer a world-class experience of the arts that inspired confidence, delight, and healing for those who needed it most.

We continued to provide family programs to empower our young people to dig deep wells of curiosity and to celebrate the wonder around them. And, we created a safe space to support local and regional artists.

But, we did not do it alone.

The greatness of our community is in the compassion of our members, of people like you who are willing to look beyond themselves, to lead with empathy, and to invest in the lives of those around you.

What you give to Manship stays at Manship. Your gift will become part of the movement that presents and promotes extraordinary and diverse arts and culture experiences. Your gift will entertain and educate and elevate the lives of our community at the local and national level.

The Manship Theatre has been a Baton Rouge staple for over a decade, and in March 2020, they celebrated 15 years of community service, artistic education, and amazing performances. In collaboration with the team at Launch Media, I wrote the script for the 2020 annual fundraising gala at Manship Theatre. The team at Manship wanted a narrative driven piece featuring each of the unique ways the Manship Theatre has transformed over the years.
